Penniman House ~Cape Cod~ Eastham, Ma
Another great hidden gem. The Penniman House is an 1850's Mansard style Whaling Captain's seaside family home. (Boy, that was a mouthful!) It's no longer occupied. I found this "begging-to-be-photographed" scene under the old barn, where I'm sure not too many people duck down and venture into...Can you say snake pit?... It was only dimly lit and I, as usual, had no tripod. I made due with an old saw horse flipped up on it's side, with a few dilapidated cedar shingles tucked underneath my camera. I needed the extra stability for the long exposures ( 5 images ranging from 4 to 30 seconds) inherent with shooting for HDR. I thought the B&W conversion, with some added grain, was my best option for capturing the mood under there.
Here's a peek at the house itself, just a peek.. http://hocusfocusd70.smugmug.com/Photography/Dailies-Alternates/8095536_tN2vgC#!i=1698088853&k=q6WvXB5
