The Calm After the Storm
This was taken in Scituate, MA the day after our most recent blizzard. It's about a forty minute ride from where I live. The ride there was like a winter wonderland. Tons of fresh snow on every tree and branch. The only visible color was white. As I got closer to the harbor, things changed quickly. It was like it hardly snowed at all. I was told, by two different locals, that I should've seen it yesterday. The ocean overtook the coastline and took all the snow with it. The snow in this picture, is what fell after the last high tide receded.

Breaking All the Rules
Photographically speaking, all the rules went out the window for this one. I'm not real big on rules to begin with, especially with art and creativity.
I like how all the main elements in the frame are connected and the hearts are glowing. I went as far as to remove all the spider webs and clean it up a bit but, in the end, I liked it better the way it was captured. I decided to work with that instead. My Favorite Barn 6
On my way home yesterday, the sunset was so pretty. Normally, I LOVE a beautiful sunset but not when I don't have my camera! I decided to stop and shoot this barn with my cell phone, which normally takes darn good pictures. In order to shoot it, I have to pull over in a rather precarious place. There's really no way to get off the road and inevitably, I get honked at. Yesterday was no exception. I got one shot off before a truck came screaming up from behind me and laid on it's horn for about 10 seconds! I nearly dropped the phone out the car window! The things we do for a picture!
Anyway, the sunset was much prettier than this shows. The pretty part of the sky was off to the right but I couldn't move the barn to line up with the clouds so this is what you get -an hour of fun in lightroom and On1...If I still knew how to share a link (thank you smugmug :/ ) I'd post the original too.West Island Fire Tower in the Winter
Along the eastern seaboard, Fire Towers were erected by the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII to watch for enemy fire on our ships.

Mystical Oliver Mill
It was so beautiful out on Christmas Eve, I decided to go down to Oliver Mill. It was so strange looking with all the mist. With long exposures, this is the color of light I was picking up. I started having fun with the mysticalness of the light instead. Heck, I can shoot the water falls any time!
Plymouth Inner Harbor at Night
My first attempt at night photography. And yes, the water really is that color...Hard to believe it's mid-December and it's so warm. It was a beautiful night to be out on the harbor. And with no shortage of subjects, I killed the battery in a matter of 2 hours. Not hard to do with 30 sec exposures. I borrowed this camera, a Fuji EX2, to see how I liked the whole mirror less, micro 4 thirds thing. Wow! Who knew you could get so much power out of something so small. Fantastic alternative to lugging a huge DSLR around.

Not the best quality image but...
This building is about to collapse. It sits right on the edge of the railroad tracks and I'm sure, in it's day, did quite a business. I've enjoyed shooting it over the years, though now it feels apropos given my line of work in commercial plumbing. So many letters have now fallen or are covered. The train tracks are still functioning and the MBTA screams by there 20-25 times a day as well as freight trains. It's amazing it's still standing with all that rumbling .
Here's a picture I took of it a year or two ago.....OR NOT! I hate that I can no longer copy/paste a URL here anymore. The new smugmug has got me pretty frustrated. I don't like it.middleboro maplumbing suppliesold buildingold warehouseabandoned buildingsunset

A Warm November Day
This was taken somewhere in Halifax, just driving home. There's a very small family cemetery under the grouping of trees on the left.

I love that I can walk here. Actually, I usually end up practically running due to my excitement!

I'm not sure what type of flower this is but, there were quite a few of them along the shore of Great Quittacus. This was taken at sunrise and the sun hadn't reached them yet. As they fell into the rays of sunshine, the tiny, daisy-like petals would slowly open up.

I love swamps!
At one point in history, this was the site of Reed's Mill, though long gone now. Not even the tiniest trace of evidence remains. It was beautiful there.
