I love this time of year! It makes the simplest of things feel so indulgent, like driving down a road you've driven on hundreds of times.

I took a ride yesterday and along the way, I found a beautiful field. Because it was high noon, I decided I'd return to it later in the day when the light would set the tone instead of ruining the scene. The pink in the background is liatrus.

I finally started back to work. This was taken on my way there. I guess it's one of the benefits of a 6am start!iphone4middleboro mamiddleborosunrisecranberry bogfieldtractorfog
So much has happened in the last 10 days that I can't even remember which beach I took this at! My third surgery, in as many months, (among other really heavy stuff) has come and gone and I am officially on the road to recovery. It's going to be a LONG summer but, it helps knowing the worst is behind me!

Sheepdog Junction
Middleboro, Ma
It was shearing day at Sheepdog Junction and this little 5 day old lamb was motherless....All alone in the pasture until mom was done being shorn. The lamb cried incessantly in her absence. It would wander around the pasture and just lay down to sleep for about 3 minutes and then struggle with its new legs to get up again. Then it would baa it's little head off and then lay down again. This lamb was separated off from the rest of sheep and lambs because it's so young and could've easily been injured in the chaotic holding pen.
I've been photographing the goings-on here on this farm for a month or so now. Photographically speaking, I haven't captured anything monumental but, journalistically I've got some interesting stuff. The purpose of the sheep is so that the sheep herding dogs have some sheep to chase. The owner teaches handlers and their dogs to herd by using commands only, either whistle or voice. It's amazing to watch.New Bedford Harbor
The ships in this harbor are amazing...so ugly and so colorful at the same time. I love the light falling through the docks just before sunset.new bedford harborcoastal new englandnew england coastlinefishing boatsharbornew bedford ma
I love how the Kousa Dogwood spreads it's leaves and how dainty they can be, like saucers.
On another note, last night when I was commenting, I somehow ended up giving 3 stars to a series of images. Not sure how I did that but, it wasn't my intention. If I take the time to comment, it's because I really like the image! My apologies.Crooked Lane

I went in a different direction to chase fog this time. I was originally on my way to the Assawompsett Pond area but, I kept seeing these blankets of fog on all the fields. So I went to the old Wilkie Farm Lands to see what that looked like. Beautiful! The sky was such a cool color. I eventually made it to the ponds but, I'm sure glad I took the time to check the farm.
On a different note, tonight I'm going to a "class" on iphoneography. It should be pretty interesting. There are some really cool apps out there that we'll get to see in action and then can later purchase if we choose to. I'm sure I will. I've been using my iphone more and more often -and with some pretty good results. Of course, nothing as good as my Panasonic!Yarmouth, Ma

It turned into a gorgeous day yesterday. I spent the whole day outside, ending with a ride down the Cape. Though the sky lacked clouds, the beautiful shades of pink, purple and orange more than made up for it.grays beachyarmouth macape codsunsetwatercoastal new englandnew england coastline

I took another early morning ride through this area. There's so much to shoot along this stretch but it's hard to get to. The road itself is fairly well traveled so it makes drive-by shootings difficult. All the farms are still operating businesses so getting out and traipsing around the property isn't possible either. I guess there's always asking for permission...I'm afraid they'd just yell at me, something along the lines of "I ain't got no time for that!"Plymouth Harbor

My morning off...
I'm always on the lookout for the Lone Tree. Usually, when I drive down this road, I'm on my way to work (a new job location) for a 6am start. I have a thing about never being late for work so stopping on the way hasn't happened, but it hasn't stopped me from looking. I had a mental list of the things I wanted to shoot.
I especially liked this tree scene because of the distant geese in flight and chopped off corn stalks in the foreground. And the abandoned rail car doesn't hurt either. Not sure how or why it's there. From what I can tell, there are no tracks anywhere for miles around. It's pretty rural out that way.Thompson Street Barn

Well, I'm all moved into my new place now and finally getting out there with my camera again. Moving is exhausting and I hope it'll be a long time until I have to do it again. I've missed shooting, processing, posting and commenting. I'm back!
I went out for sunrise for the first time since the moving process began. I went down a pretty country road that I often drive on my way to one of my jobs. It has lots of cow farms and old barns. The beach in the winter usually doesn't look too different from the beach any other time of year. Not so, the day after the blizzard. This window, as well as a few others I shot, took the full brunt of the blizzard. The entire back side of the building was covered in a frozen-over mix of ocean water and sand, despite being high up on a sand dune, a hundred feet from the ocean. This was shot within a few minutes of sunset.Blizzard 2013icesandy neck beachwindowfrozencoastal new englandnew england coastlinewinter
