I went to Killington, Vermont this past weekend ~on a motorcycle! It was so fun. I shot tons of pics from the moving bike . Most of them were pretty blurry but, there were a dozen or so really nice ones mixed in. It was 75 degrees all three days. Absolutely beautiful scenery up there.

I usually tend to be more of a sunRISE person but lately, the sunsets have been gorgeous. This was the view of the Nemasket River just after sunset. There was a little river otter swimming around too but because of the low light and necessary slow shutter speed, he was all blurry. So I had to lop him out of the scene.

Beautiful sunset last night. It was a pleasure making "the trip back" from Lakeville. I stopped at a few of my old favorite shooting spots along the way.

Fall is slowly creeping in. Flower planters are beginning to look a little tired. Soon the background in the landscape will no longer be predominantly green but will slowly be taken over with reds, yellows and oranges. Summer goes by so fast. I'm so glad fall, my favorite season by far, is on the flip side.

If I was a weed, I'd choose to be this one based on it's pretty colors.
As Judy suggested, it might be fun to discuss PP for our shots. My story is quite short:
Lightroom for curve adjustments, HSL, horizon line check ( an irritant of mine when viewing any image) and crop if needed. Sometimes, I sharpen and reduce noise. Then, I save it! At this point, I might drag it into Snapseed for a texture or frame. I've wanted to try topaz or color fx, any of the Nik software products but, have never been able to afford them.

I love my new job! Working right in Plymouth is really convenient. I can shoot the sunrise, go to breakfast and still make it to work on time. After work, the harbor is beautiful in a different way. I love the colors of the ice as the sky reflects it's beautiful pinks on it. This was taken just before sunrise, the blue hour.

My camera and I were recently taking a walk in the woods while it was snowing out. It was beautifully silent. The snow has a way of masking a lot of the basic browns of the winter woods while bringing out little splashes of color that normally go unnoticed. I found all sorts of cool things to shoot. I spent 3 hours out there! This is lichen. I never knew it flowered. The flowers are smaller than a pencil eraser!lichensnowwintersquarewoodsmiddleborowolf trap hillmacrowolftrap hill farm
Happy to feel a bit better today...
I spent all night Christmas Eve and all of Christmas Day in bed, sick, with some kind of out of control stomach thing. Ick. Stomach things are the worst. I'll take anything over that kind of horror. And then, to add salt to my wound, my stellar boss accused me of "faking sick" to have the holiday off, despite volunteering to work those shifts and never once having called in sick in the almost two years I've worked there. I said goodbye, forever.
As a post script here:
Six months later...Everything happens for a reason. I am so fortunate. Though I do miss parts of my old job, including my boss.A sunny morning after a night frost.

I uploaded this photo last night, and it was lost on page 9 or something. So I'm reposting the same image only because I happen to really like it. It's in such contrast to the dark, pouring rain, crazy windy day we're having here in coastal Massachusetts today. Thanks to arctangent for clearing up the alphabet thing for me!
November rose hips.
The back ground color in this image is from a Japanese Maple. Squeezing color out of late November is getting difficult. March is the worst month though...fifty shades of brown and gray. ;)I was going for a certain mood here. I'm not sure if I achieved it or not.

This was shot on Herring Pond Road in Plymouth, Ma. I love shooting into colorful reflections when the water is moving. In this image, the birch tree branches are what's creating the whites. The waves were being created by little fish jumping. Their jumping had no pattern of prediction so I had to sit and wait and watch, then very quickly line up the shot. The focusing can be difficult but the results can be fun!
First Snow...
I was so excited to go shoot some foliage combined with snow and by the time I was able to, this is what was left.

A lot of you had questions regarding my Daily from yesterday, The Artist's Palette. Most of those little screen bottomed cups are about the size of a quarter in diameter. The are used to apply the pigment to the piece being worked on. The day I was there, she was working on a platter with a vine scene. Very labor intensive.Ellisville Harbor

I went to see John Barclay's seminar the other night entitled, Dream-Believe-Create . What an inspirational speaker! Sometimes, I forget why I'm out there at 5am, in the freezing cold, or ruining another perfectly good pair of shoes just to get a shot! Or why I often can lose myself, focused on one tiny little thing for an hour. Or the thrill that comes with trespassing. The liberty to put the horizon line wherever I want! Or turning a perfectly focused landscape into a softened dream. Because it's mine! I created it. It doesn't matter what anyone else sees. it was my vision that brought it to life.
I know I see things sort of weird. I think it comes from having such bad vision. Without my glasses (which I despise wearing and avoid whenever possible), things more than 10 feet in front of me are a blur. I think that's why I like the soft filter on landscapes because that's how I see it. I also tend to get up close and personal with isolating subjects as well as macro shots. I like those images to look the way I saw them, too. All the same reasons why color and light rule my world: it's what I see best.
